Mansfield Senior High School will compete today in the spring Academic Challenge tournament at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, 890 W. Fourth St.

Seventeen area school districts participated in the winter tournament in November.

Adviser James White put his team through a rapid-fire final round of practice after school on Wednesday.

“Academic Challenge involves a wide range of subject areas, including math, science, history, geography and the arts,” White said. “It requires not only knowledge but quick reaction time.”

White said his 10-member team will be divided into varsity and junior varsity squads for today’s tournament.

Team members include captain Aubreion Chatman, Ford Amsbaugh, Breanne Blevins, Khyra Johnson, Blair McClenathan, Tony Oliveri, Zander Perrigan, Olivia Snyder, Megan Supron and Reese Vaught.

Participation requires a commitment from team members. Although they are excused from school today, they are responsible for making up any missed class assignments.
