Tygers' basketball home opener set for Saturday afternoon

      Coach Marquis Sykes will lead his varsity basketball Tygers against West Holmes Saturday in Mansfield Senior High’s season home opener.

      Tipoff for the Ohio Cardinal Conference matchup is set for 1 p.m. The junior varsity will play at 11:30 a.m.

      The Tygers opened the season with a loss at St. Peter’s but bounced back to defeat St. Michael’s College School of Toronto in an exhibition game Dec. 3, then won on the road at Lexington Dec. 8.

      West Holmes comes to Pete Henry gym with a 3-1 record. The Knights lost to Tuslaw of Massillon 58-53 Tuesday evening.

      Tickets at the door will be $6 for adults and $4 for students. Richland County senior citizens will be admitted free.
