It was a great day for a cookout at Prospect

Sunshine and warm temperatures created the perfect setting for a year-end cookout at Prospect Elementary School on Thursday.

Hamburgers were grilled on the playground as the district’s food service department served the last of four elementary school picnics. The hamburgers were complemented by baked beans, fresh fruit, fruit slushies and milk.

After eating, students sat on the playground for random prize drawings that included basketballs, soccer balls and top-of-the-line jump ropes.

Bicycles were awarded to grand-prize winners Maleah Reynolds, kindergarten, and Ephraim Davis, second grade.

Food service manager Jane Fortman and assistant manager Lauren Ellsworth acquired the prizes by using rebates earned from food service vendors during the year.
