The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education will meet in special session on June 27 and regular monthly session on June 28. Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m. at the Raemelton administration building, 856 W. Cook Road.
On June 27 the board will convene, then move into executive session to interview four district residents who have applied to serve the remainder of Dina Davis’ term on the board through Dec. 31, 2017. Davis resigned earlier this month, citing the need to devote more time to her family.
Seeking appointment to the board are Leonarda Greter, Gary Feagin, Chauncey Bragg and Luann Trumpower.
When board members return from executive session they will vote on their selection. The person chosen will be sworn in at the outset of the June 28 meeting, which was rescheduled from its earlier date of June 21.
Also at the June 28 meeting the board will act on Superintendent Brian Garverick’s recommendations for the hiring of Stephen Rizzo, principal of Sherman Elementary School, as district curriculum director and Mark Manley of Xenia Community Schools as district personnel director.
Both administrative positions have been vacant since 2010. The board of education approved their reinstatement earlier, as did the Financial Planning and Supervision Commission.
The board also will hear a presentation by OHM Advisors, recommended by Garverick for a contract to provide architect services for the demolition of the former Newman Elementary School and remediation of the site.
