Mid-Ohio ESC providing free help in treasurer search

The search for a new Mansfield City Schools treasurer has begun with the help of the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.

On Tuesday the board of education accepted an offer from Mid-Ohio Superintendent Linda T. Keller to advertise the position, screen applicants and develop a list of qualified candidates. Current treasurer Rosetta Stephens will retire on Sept. 1.

There will be no charge for Mid-Ohio’s work.

“Our goal is to provide cost-saving services to districts,” Keller said. “We partner with Mansfield City Schools in other areas. We are pleased to assist in the treasurer search at no cost to the district.”

Keller has posted the job opening on several online venues along with applicant requirements and general information about the district and the Mansfield community. She will submit a list of qualified candidates to the board before its regular meeting on June 16.

“This is a board hire. We don’t interview applicants or negotiate contracts,” Keller said. “We’re just here to help get the process started.”

Board president Renda Cline expressed the district’s gratitude for Mid-Ohio’s participation.

“Superintendent Keller will provide a professional approach to finding qualified treasurer candidates that costs us nothing,” Cline said. “Other organizations charge thousands of dollars for the same service.”

The board will decide later in June which applicants will have first-round interviews. Mid-Ohio will then contact the candidates and schedule interviews on dates set by the board.
