The treasurer of Mount Gilead City Schools also will serve as interim treasurer of Mansfield City Schools for the balance of the calendar year.
A contract for Trevor R. Gummere was approved by the board of education during a special meeting Monday evening. The vote to hire Gummere was 4-0; board member Monica Hubbard was absent.
Gummere will be paid $50 an hour for work as needed from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31.
The contract acknowledges that Gummere’s work for Mansfield may require him to work outside normal business hours and at non-school district locations. He will not receive any health insurance coverage from MCS but will be paid mileage at the prevailing IRS rate for use of his personal vehicle in connection with school business.
The board also voted 4-0 to work with the Ohio School Boards Association in a search for a new permanent treasurer. Board president Renda Cline said she appreciated the assistance of the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center in an initial treasurer search earlier this summer which did not yield a permanent candidate.
