Orientations, open houses are scheduled

   It’s the age-old question: Where did summer go? Mansfield City Schools students will return in three weeks.

   Orientations, registration and open houses have been scheduled in advance of the first day of classes on Aug. 17.

   Mansfield Senior High and Mansfield Middle School will register students on the following dates:

   Aug. 9 – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

   Aug. 10 – 12 to 7 p.m.

   Aug. 11 – 12 to 7 p.m.

   Parents and students should bring the following:

   -- At least three emergency contact telephone numbers.

   -- Medical insurance information.

   -- Doctor’s orders to administer prescription medication during school hours. (If needed, this form may be picked up prior to registration.)

   -- Cash or check for school fees.

   Medical cards are not accepted as fee waivers. A student may be considered for fee waivers if he or she qualifies for free lunch and checks the box on the free lunch form to be considered.

   Senior High will have orientation for grades 9 and 10 at 6 p.m. on Aug. 9. Assistant Principal Lori Crum will oversee freshmen this year while Assistant Principal Fuzzie Davis will be in charge of sophomores.

The 7th grade/new Middle School student orientation will be on August 11th at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium. Mr. McQuate and Mr. Douglas will discuss procedures and information important to all new Middle School students. 

   Malabar Intermediate School will have orientation for incoming fourth-graders on Aug. 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Orientation for Malabar fifth- and sixth-graders will be on Aug. 15 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. 

Mansfield Hedges Campus will have new grades 4-8 additionally and will register on Aug. 8th  8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Orientation/School preparation: Teachers and the principal will be meeting and greeting students, doing team building exercises, doing student interest surveys, and reviewing building practices. We will have snacks at arrival and serve pizza for lunch.

Student orientation for grades 4-6 is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, August 8th; make up day is Tuesday, August 9th.
Student orientation for grades 7th and 8th is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10th; make up day is Thursday, August 11th.

   Prospect Elementary School will have an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 11.

   Also on Aug. 11 Sherman Elementary will have an open house for grades one, two and three from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sherman’s open house for kindergarten will be Aug. 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Both events will feature hot dogs, baked beans and fruit.

   Woodland Elementary School’s open house will be Aug. 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

   Spanish Immersion School has scheduled open house for 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 15. Free hot dogs will be served and Kona Ice will be available for purchase.

   Springmill STEM Elementary will have open house on Sept. 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
