Sherman principal, boilers on board agenda

Hiring of a new elementary principal and a contract to remove and reuse two steam boilers from the former Newman Elementary School will be on the agenda when the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education meets in regular session on Tuesday, July 19.

The 5:30 p.m. meeting will be at the Raemelton administration building, 856 W. Cook Road.

Superintendent Brian Garverick will recommend that T. Michael Wallace, most recently a principal in Findlay City Schools, be appointed principal of Sherman Elementary School. Wallace will succeed Stephen Rizzo who recently was named district director of curriculum.

The board also will act on Garverick’s recommendation that Gardiner Trane be awarded a $101,392 contract to remove two Burnham cast iron steam boilers from Newman, convert them to hot water and install them at Springmill STEM Elementary. Gardner Trane will furnish all engineering, supervision, labor and materials for the project.

Several other routine personnel actions and financial reports are on the agenda.
