The dining
area at Friendly House was filled to capacity for the Mansfield Senior High
choir concert. The weather outside certainly wasn’t frightful but the Mansfield Senior High choir’s holiday concert inside was quite delightful for more than 100 senior citizens Monday.
Seventeen
members of the choir, accompanied by vocal music director Dirk Eachus and vocal
music teacher Dalton Phillips, entertained the seniors after a lunch Monday at
the Friendly House community center.
“This is a tradition for me,” Eachus told the audience. “We’ve been coming here each holiday season for about 14 years.”
Eachus introduced Phillips, who is in his first year at Senior High, as “my replacement.”
“This is my last year with the chorus. I am director of the performing arts class within the Senior High Career Tech program,” he said. “Next year Mr. Phillips will serve as vocal music director. We are very glad to have him.”
The midday
concert included traditional and contemporary holiday songs. Several soloists
were featured.
Students who
participated were Mya Monroe, Emberly Schaub-Hurt, Anessa McGregor, Calio
Snyder, Infinity Cole, Alyson Lookabaugh, Brie Blevins, Olivia Snyder, Tiera
Evans, Cassidy Williams, Elijah Allen, Brandon Dixon, Jabre Jones, Gerald
Galloway, Reese Vaught, Mason Sheldon and James Bolden.
The Senior
High Christmas cabaret is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15
and 16, in the commons. Reservations for seating are required.
Reservations may be made in advance by calling 419-525-6369 or by sending an email to Eachus at [email protected]
