Principal's Message

Dear Tyger Families,

It is hard to believe the start to a new school year is just around the corner.  As we transition from summer break, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as the new principal of the 7 – 12 campus (Middle School and Senior High).  I come to you with a variety of leadership experiences – most recently as an assistant principal at Thomas Worthington High School (Columbus, Ohio) and principal at Mt. Healthy Jr/Sr High School (Cincinnati, Ohio).  I am excited to work with the students, staff and parents of Mansfield City Schools.  The 2018-19 school year is going to be a year of relationship building and helping all students reach their academic potential!

The start of the year is always about procedures and expectations.  Here in the building, we will be holding grade-level assemblies on the first day.  The assigned grade-level administrator and I will review key points in the student handbook, including campus wear, cell phones, attendance / truancy, and our new code of conduct.  The grade-level administrative assignments are as follows:

7th Grade – Mr. Butler, Assistant Principal

8th Grade – Ms. Shaffner, Assistant Principal

9th Grade – Mr. Schiefer, Assistant Principal

10th Grade – Mr. Kim, Assistant Principal

11th & 12th Grade – Mr. McQuate, Assistant Principal

In addition, your child’s teachers will communicate classroom expectations for the year.  Its important that you have follow up conversations with your child to ensure you know what is going on in the building.

Finally, I would like to encourage everyone to attend our Open House on September 6, 6:00pm – 7:30pm.  This is an opportunity for parents to engage the staff at the 7 – 12 building and forge the relationships necessary to support student success.  If you are not able to attend these events, please reach out to your child’s teachers or grade-level administrator with any questions.

The staff and I are looking forward to a great start to the year on the 7 -12 campus.  It’s a great time to be a TY-Tyger.  Let’s make it a great year!

Dr. Milton Folson
