Senior High band hopes 100 Club will raise needed funds

Three senior members of the Mansfield Senior High Band – Aiden Crider, Kylie Ramsey and Brianna English -- talk with director Jeff Freytag and assistant director Charles Bradley.

Here’s your chance to help the Mansfield Senior High School band department and maybe win some holiday cash in the process.

The band is hoping that the return of its 100 Club will help to offset the cost of supplies, instrument repairs and, in some cases, new instruments.

The structure of the 100 Club is simple: Members each put in $40 to cover an 11-week period of weekly and bonus drawings in which they could win $50, $100 or $500.

The 68-member Tyger band entertains at football games, parades and concerts but keeping in performance shape means repairs, replacing drum heads, sticks, woodwind reeds, music and countless other elements that keep the program moving.

“The band department at Mansfield Senior High School has a rich tradition stretching as far back as the 1920s,” director Jeff Freytag said in promoting the 100 Club. “The band program relies heavily on fundraising. Much of the burden of raising these funds rests solely on the shoulders of band students and their parents.”

The MSHS Band Boosters successfully utilized the 100 Club a few years ago. Freytag and assistant band director Charles Bradley are hoping another round will raise the money needed now.

Participants in the 100 Club must have a completed entry form and a $40 check made out to Mansfield Senior High School Band Boosters to Freytag by 8 a.m. on Oct. 7.

The program will kick off with a $100 drawing on Oct. 7, followed by $50 drawings on Oct. 8, 9, 10, and 11, then weekly $50 drawings starting on Oct. 14.

Bonus drawings of $100 are scheduled for Halloween, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Payouts conclude with three grand prize drawings in December: $100 on Dec. 18, $250 on Dec. 19 and $500 on Dec. 20.

“You will be eligible to win each drawing even if you have already won a previous drawing,” Freytag said.

To enter, fill out the form below and return it with your payment by 8 a.m. Oct. 7 to Jeff Freytag, 124 N Linden Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44906

Make checks payable for $40 to:  Mansfield Senior High School Band Boosters.

REDUCED ENTRY FEE: 2 entries for $70 (under same name)

Senior High Band 100 Club is limited to the first 100 responses. In the event that the response is high enough to have 200 members, then there will be TWO drawings on each drawing date.
