Spanish
Immersion students Owen Doan, left, and Liam McCumiskey finished first and
second, respectively, in the county third-grade spelling bee. With them are
other bee participants, their classroom teacher Jennifer Osberg and Winston
Greene, district testing coordinator and assessment specialist. Classmates
from the Spanish Immersion School placed first and second Thursday in the
annual county third-grade spelling bee.
Owen Doan
took the top spot. Liam McCumiskey was runner-up.
Mansfield
City Schools participated in the bee, held at the YMCA of Mansfield, but the
district was not involved in sponsorship.
According to
Linda Burrage, the bee organizer, the following schools also participated:
Eastview Elementary, Foundation Academy, Madison South Elementary, Mifflin Elementary, St. Mary’s, St. Peter’s, Woodland Elementary and Springmill STEM Elementary.
