It’s a busy week in the culinary arts department at Mansfield Senior High School. A family dinner is on tap Wednesday evening, while judging of student-made gingerbread houses will culminate on Friday.

Chef Tom Blike, culinary arts instructor, said Wednesday’s free Culinary Family Night and Buffet will be an opportunity for students to showcase their skills for their families. It is set for 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Cub Room.

“Our students will be preparing the International Buffet that they offered on two school days in the Cub Room,” Blike said. “It was very popular. The students did a great job. Chef Ed Golden and I would like to show off their skills to their families.”

The buffet will feature culinary specialties representing five cultures.

“The whole family is invited, not just parents. Siblings and grandparents are welcome,” Blike said. “There is no charge for this event. We will have tours of the kitchen available.”

Meanwhile, a dozen gingerbread houses created by junior and senior students are on display in the Cub Room. Senior High staff will vote for their favorites this week and the winners will be announced on Friday.
