Hundreds from Ohio, Michigan compete in 86th Mehock Relays

Seniors Nayasha Franklin and Maranda Cline served as representatives of Mansfield Senior High School to welcome participants and visitors to the Mehock Relays.

      Six hundred athletes representing some 60 schools in Ohio and Michigan competed in the 86th Mehock Relays in Mansfield on Saturday.

      East Kentwood won the boys competition, followed by Gahanna Lincoln and Ashland. Shelby was fourth.

      Among the top 10 Tyger girl finishes were:

      Tyger senior Alaya Grose was second in the 100 hurdles.

      The girls 4 x 200 meter relay team of Nayasha Franklin, Destiny Yocum, Tor’Reian Brown and Grose placed sixth.

      The girls 4 x 100 meter relay team of Alyanna Cameron, Nayasha Franklin, Dairrionna Hood and Grose finished eighth.

      On the boys side. Mansfield Senior sophomore Angelo Grose was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 3.75 inches. He also placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles and sixth in the high jump.

      T’Ylheir Grose was ninth in the discus throw, while Tyrese Long was tenth in the boys 100 meter dash.
