No school on Friday; Celebration on Tuesday

   Just a reminder: Schools will not be in session this Friday, April 29.

   Friday will be a waiver day throughout the district because of the Ohio Association of Student Councils annual state conference at Mansfield Senior High School.

   More than 250 student delegates from throughout the state are expected to arrive Thursday evening and head for home around noon on Saturday.

   Meanwhile, plans are complete for Mansfield City Schools’ Celebration of Education on Tuesday, May 3, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Senior High commons.

   The program will include presentations by each school, free hotdogs, potato chips and punch and a free book for each young student.

   The Senior High band will perform at 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies at 5:15 will include Pam Jones, president of the Mansfield School Employees Association, sponsor of the event; Renda Cline, president of the board of education, and Superintendent Brian Garverick.

   The rest of the schedule includes:

   5:30 – Senior High, Jonny Price

   5:45 – Preschool, songs in motion

   6:00 – Prospect, songs, readings, video

   6:30 – Sherman, song and dance

   6:45 – Woodland, songs and readings

   7:00 – Malabar, readings

   7:15 – Spanish Immersion, songs
