Retirees' years of service an astounding total

   Fifty-six Mansfield City Schools employees who are retiring or retired earlier this school year were recognized Thursday evening for a combined 1,376 years of service to the district.

   A cake-and-punch reception in the Mansfield Senior High commons featured congratulatory remarks by Superintendent Brian Garverick and board of education president Renda Cline.

   Board members Dina Davis and Monica Hubbard also attended. Five Senior High students sang and gifts were presented to retirees.

   “It is always sad to say goodbye to wonderful people who have given so much to Mansfield City Schools,” Garverick said afterward. “Their dedication and professional talent have earned each of them what I hope will be a very pleasant retirement.”

   Personnel office executive assistants Cynthia Gilbert and Teresa James organized the reception. They will have an appreciation reception for district substitutes from 5 to 7 p.m. June 4 in the Dutton Community Room at Senior High.

   Gift certifications for the end-of-year receptions were provided by Skyline Chili, Buffalo Wings and Rings and Applebees.
