Students in the HOSTS tutoring program at Sherman Elementary School have expressed their thanks for the support of the Target store in Mansfield.
Target recently provided a $700 store gift card that can be used for whatever is needed by HOSTS (Helping One Student To Succeed). The program pairs second- and third-graders who need extra help with community volunteers who work one-on-one with the students in 30-minute segments focused on reading, writing and spelling.
“We are so grateful for this generous donation,” said Sharon Fesmier, coordinator of the HOSTS program. “We will use this gift card for materials to directly support the work of our tutoring.”
Fesmier visited Target on Wednesday to present store managers Kelly Mullins and Jess Bender with a colorful thank-you poster prepared by Sherman students. Mullins and Bender both serve as volunteer HOSTS tutors.
