Senior High science projects judged "superior"

Superintendent Brian Garverick and Malabar Assistant Principal Tom Hager listen as freshmen Seth Hyland-Spencer and Cody McGuire explain their project at Mansfield Senior High School’s Science Research Day.

Five students will advance to regional competition after their projects earned “superior” ratings this week at Mansfield Senior High’s Science Research Day.

   They include:

-- Anastasia Axiopoulos – “Creating and decomposing biodegradable bioplastic”

-- Rosie Stone – “Video games and blood pressure”

-- Olta Toska – “How does sugar affect the brain?”

-- Jonathan Willey – “Turning milk into plastic”

-- Veena Wells – “How technology affects mood/lifestyle”

All five will compete at Mohican District Science Day March 21 at Ashland University.

Science teacher Phyllis Randall, coordinator of Senior High’s Science Research Day, said 34 projects were rated Wednesday by judges from the community and Mansfield City Schools.
